Church choirs provide a unique opportunity to express our faith through music. Participation in church music increases our sense of community, deepens our faith, and connects us more fully to the life of the church. All are welcome in the music ministry at Ewing, regardless of experience or skill level. EPC has a long tradition of supporting a strong and vibrant music program and the only requirement for joining is enthusiasm! Church and community members alike are invited to join us as we praise the Lord with music.
Our musical opportunities include:
Sanctuary Choir: High school through Adult. This choir sings every week during worship and provides special music during Advent and Lent. No audition is necessary, just a love of music and fellowship. While firmly rooted in the classical music tradition, this ensemble performs music of many genres, including contemporary and world music. Rehearsals are held on Thursday from 6:15 – 7:30 p.m.
Ewing/Covenant Bell Choir: Ewing Presbyterian and Covenant Presbyterian have joined forces to form a single bell choir that provides a special musical resource for both churches. The choir meets weekly and rings every three weeks, alternating churches. Some bell/musical experience is preferred for this group. Rehearsals are held at EPC on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.
Children’s Choir: Preschool – 3rd Grade. Our children’s choir meets weekly as part of the Sunday School hour and bring its joyous presence to the Sunday morning worship service several times throughout the year. The youngest choristers experience the fun of singing – learning about pitch and rhythm, and finding their “singing voices” through a variety of techniques and songs.
Youth Choir – 4th graded and up! The Youth Choir members build on their experiences and their musical skills in this group. We emphasize good vocal technique and good voice production as well as nurture a meaningful commitment to the musical life of the church. We sing several times a year.
