Congregational Care

Deacons

The Deacons provide a ministry of compassion and care. They minister to shut-ins and those in need of care through visitations, food, and cards, and support the entire congregation by organizing fellowship events and activities. They also have an outreach mission to the Mercer Street Friends Food Pantry, and they collect hats, gloves, and scarves for the annual Christmas Giving tree. Weekly, when we are worshiping in person, the Deacons support worship services through ushering and organizing refreshments.

Care Team

The Care Team was established in 2017 to care for the needs of our congregation. The Care Team is organized into five areas that are run by volunteer members of the church community who are dedicated to caring for our flock. The five areas are:

  • Visitation: To provide visits to homebound members and others in need
  • Meals: To provide meals to those in need during times of hardship
  • Rides: To provide transportation for church  members who need transportation to church, doctor’s appointments, running errands, etc
  • Respite: To provide a time of respite for caregivers so they can attend church, run errands, etc.
  • Connection to Services: To serve as a contact for ECPC members in need of information on support services available in the Ewing/Mercer County area

Requests for help can be directed to the following contacts:

  • Rides: rides@ewingpres.org
  • Meals: meals@ewingpres.org
  • Visitation: visitation@ewingpres.org
  • Respite Care: respite@ewingpres.org
  • Social Services: socialservices@ewingpres.org

The Care Team continues to care for the congregation as needed.  Since in-person visitations have been put on hold, phone calls, sending cards and social distance outdoor visits are taking place. Our meals program, as well as, our rides service takes place where appropriate.  If you are in need of  help from the Care Team, please contact the church office who will then forward the need to the appropriate contact person.

Parish System

The Parish System was developed as a way to actively communicate with the congregation as well as care for the needs of the flock. Active members are currently divided into 11 Parishes which are led by the  Elders and the Deacons.  The leaders reach out to the members of their Parish typically by email or phone call to check in, update information and learn of any needs that can then be communicated to the pastors or Care Team.

Communication through the Parish System is especially important in keeping our community up to date and acknowledging the needs of members and friends.
